NICCO PARK

About the park

Nicco Park is an amusement park in India, located in Salt Lake City, Kolkata. The park was created to attract tourists to the state by providing family-friendly recreation as well as educative entertainment. Nicco Park opened on October 13, 1991, and has since been referred to as the Disneyland of West Bengal. Presently, the 40 acre park is home to over 35 different attractions and has served over 24 million customers. Nicco Park also provides a "green" environment.

 Concept and construction

                        The concept of an amusement parK in Kolkata began with the 300th year anniversary of the recorded founding of Kolkata (then Calcutta). While planning was under way for the tricentennial celebrations by the ruling State Government, Rajive Kaul, the current Chairman of Nicco Group, was in the US on a family holiday to Disneyland. As per the story, when Kaul returned, there was an inquiry as to why he left for America when he was very much required back home for the planning process. Supposedly, Rajive replied, "I'd gone to see if I could create a Disneyland here." What at first seemed to be just an excuse to justify his absence actually materialized to a joint venture with the West Bengal government.

Snowglobe – Rs. 50 per child (children can play with artifical snow flakes and can also take their pictures)

About Millenium Park

      Millennium Park is a private park in Kolkata, situated along the Strand Road on eastern shore of Hooghly River for a stretch of 2.5 km near Fairlie Ghat and opposite to Railway Club. The park consists of landscaped gardens and children's amusement rides. It was opened along the riverside to provide a green area for Kolkata's polluted waterway. It is a millennium gift from Kolkata Metropolitan Development Authority (KMDA/CMDA) inaugurated on 26 December 1999. The park is part of the first phases of the Kolkata Riverside Beautification Project. The park is open from 11am-8pm

      Millenium Park is situated near the Babughat on the banks of river Ganga. It is nice place to spend couple of hours with your family. The place does not offer much but couple of hours in front of Ganga with friends and that too at very minimum entry fee is itself a good option. You can see small fishing boats and launches passing by and the evening atmosphere with sun setting is quite amazing. There is also few rides available for children but you will have to pay for such rides apart from entry fees

This park beside the river Ganges is a good place if you want to spend some time with your girlfriend. There is a good view of the river from the park but nothing more to do here. It is just a place for hangout -that's it.

        Millennium park will also be a very good option for Romantic Date in kolkata. So if You planning a Date with your Girl on this Valentine;s Day and want to have some kiss and Hugs than it would be a good option as it is one of the safe parks in kolkata for couples also.
